Basketball Recap: El Capitan Skates Past BASIS Flagstaff with Ease

There's no place like home for El Capitan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the BASIS Flagstaff Yetis 54-12 on Saturday. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

El Capitan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ruth Timpson, who went 8 of 17 en route to 18 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Tamara Timpson, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and four steals.

El Capitan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

BASIS Flagstaff lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maleea Moebes, who posted four points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Hall, who had six points in addition to six boards and three steals.

The win got El Capitan back to even at 4-4. As for BASIS Flagstaff, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will welcome Grand Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for BASIS Flagstaff, they will host Ash Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ash Fork has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
