Softball Game Preview: Ariton Purple Cats vs. Rehobeth Rebels

Ariton hasn't had much luck against Rehobeth recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Purple Cats will be taking part in a tournament against the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Ariton's tournament run continued when they took on Kinston on Friday. The Purple Cats came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-2. The Purple Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rehobeth started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Benjamin Russell. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.

Shelby Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Payten Roland also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Rehobeth has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Ariton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9-1.
