Football Recap: Williamstown Braves vs. Shawnee Renegades
Williamstown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shawnee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Braves fell just short of the Renegades by a score of 24-21 on Friday. Despite 148 more yards than the Renegades, the Braves couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trey Alexander, who rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Tyson Forman was another key signal caller, throwing for 196 yards and one TD.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shawnee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Anderson, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Anderson has posted since back in September of 2024. Shawnee also got a significant boost from Parker Peluse, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Williamstown and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Shawnee, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamstown will face off against Chichester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shawnee, they will square off against Camden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Renegades' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
