Soccer Recap: Chesapeake Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Chesapeake rose to the challenge on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Cougars who were credited with the win. The Chesapeake Cougars got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Patterson Clippers's two. Given Chesapeake's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland soccer rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Patterson are ranked 94th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chesapeake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Patterson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6-2.

Looking ahead, Chesapeake will square off against Decatur on Friday. Decatur's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Chesapeake's offense will have their work cut out for them. Patterson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
