Baseball Game Preview: South Hadley Tigers vs. Smith Vo-Tech Vikings

The South Hadley Tigers will square off against the Smith Vo-Tech Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for South Hadley's offense. They lost 10-0 to Ware on Thursday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Smith Vo-Tech put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Franklin County Tech by a score of 6-3.

James Lavallee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jarred Baer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Kaleb Jorritsma was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

South Hadley's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Smith Vo-Tech, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

South Hadley was able to grind out a solid victory over Smith Vo-Tech when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
