Volleyball Game Preview: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Centennial Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Cheyenne will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will welcome the Centennial Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Cheyenne has now lost 12 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 16.

Cheyenne lost 3-0 to Basic on Wednesday.

While Cheyenne was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Basic's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Centennial faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Centennial was the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Arbor View. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Aggies since May 15, 2021.

Centennial didn't let Arbor View take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-23.

The win made it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Cheyenne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Cheyenne might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Centennial in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Cheyenne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
