Football Preview: Fannin County Rebels vs. Gordon Central Warriors

Fannin County has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the Gordon Central Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fannin County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-0 win over Dade County. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Wolverines are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fannin County had a senior duo take command as Carson Callihan gained 231 total yards and three touchdowns and Lawson Sullivan rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 75 yards.

Johnson also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and forcing a fumble. Another player making a difference was Traeviun Millsap, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Gordon Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out Charlie Cannon. four times. Coosa's QB won't forget Johnson anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Gordon Central got some further help from Riley Thomas: he made 17 total tackles and snagged an interception.

Fannin County pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Gordon Central, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.
