Greeneview hasn't had much luck against Southeastern Local recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will welcome the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Greeneview sitting on four straight wins and Southeastern Local on three.
Greeneview will bounce into Monday's game after beating Madison Plains, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday. Greeneview's victory was all the more impressive since the Golden Eagles were averaging only 3.75 runs allowed on the season.
Maddie Leslie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Mya Simpson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Zink, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Greeneview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Southeastern Local posted their closest win since April 26, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Northwestern 4-3.
Reese R Wells was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
R Wells wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kami Horner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Greeneview's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Southeastern Local, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Southeastern Local's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Greeneview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. It's a different story for Southeastern Local, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Greeneview's hitters?
Greeneview suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Southeastern Local when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
