Volleyball Recap: Hanover Central Takes a Loss

Hanover Central entered their game against Illiana Christian on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Hanover Central ultimately came up short, they really made Illiana Christian work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-22, 22-25, 26-24, 25-17.

Nora Edgerton paced Hanover Central's offense, picking up 12 kills. Edgerton got some help from Gabi Esparza and her 28 assists. Gabby Giacolona controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Hanover Central's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Illiana Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Hanover Central has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Andrean on the 23rd. As for Illiana Christian, they will host South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
