Basketball Recap: North Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

If Ridge Spring-Monetta wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played North, they should've done a better job of containing Stetson Stacks. The North Eagles enjoyed a cozy 74-57 victory over the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans on Thursday thanks in part to Stacks, who went 13 for 24 en route to 35 points and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of North's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Jamison, who posted no points and four steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played.

Despite the loss, Ridge Spring-Monetta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore DeArie Kinard went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. Those five boards gave Kinard a new career-high. Briston Matthews was another key player, putting up six points along with five assists and four steals.

North is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.1 points per game. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

North has already played their next game, an 82-69 win against Blackville-Hilda on the 31st. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 43-36 victory against Wagener-Salley on the 31st.
