The North Sanpete Hawks will head out to face off against the Springville Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Sanpete took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Juab get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Wasps: they've now won seven in a row.
Shea Rawlinson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Rawlinson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylee Cook, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Autumn Oldroyd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
North Sanpete was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Springville entered their tilt with Timpview on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Thunderbirds.
Like North Sanpete, Springville also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Brunger. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Brunger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Tyler Haveron was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allyx Haveron, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
North Sanpete's record is now 12-9. As for Springville, their record now sits at 11-5.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Sanpete hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
