Softball Recap: Knightstown Panthers vs. Rushville Lions

It was a proper cat-fight when Knightstown duked it out with Rushville on Wednesday. The Panthers walked away with a 10-5 win over the Lions. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Mae Hersberger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Lanee Swindell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Lyla Trigg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
