Recap: Banning Pilots vs. San Pedro Pirates
The Banning Pilots lost against the San Pedro Pirates back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Banning ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-20 walloping at the hands of San Pedro. Banning was down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Banning's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Steven Perez, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Guerrero, who threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
Banning now has a losing record at 4-5. As for San Pedro, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banning will challenge Carson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Banning in California (Carson is ranked 200th, while Banning is ranked 413th). As for San Pedro, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Chapel comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
