Basketball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short

Hammond came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the French Settlement Lions, falling 75-36. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Lions are ranked 38th).

Hammond has also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for French Settlement, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-9.

Hammond wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-39 loss against Pine on the 14th. As for French Settlement, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-31 win against St. Thomas Aquinas on the 14th.
