Football Recap: Nova Titans vs. South Broward Bulldogs
Nova lost against South Broward back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Titans were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Bulldogs. While the Titans had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bulldogs 6-0.
Despite the loss, Nova still got an impressive performance from Deangelo Plese, who threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Even if they lost, Nova's defense still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jayden Velazquez, Blondg Jean - Francois, and Earl Walker, Jr., who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.
Steven Wright was nothing short of spectacular for South Broward: he threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 110 yards on only 12 carries. Wright's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.
Nova's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for South Broward, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.
Nova wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-10 victory against Coral Glades on the 24th. As for South Broward, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 32-29 loss against Flanagan on the 23rd.
