Baseball Recap: Millbrook Comes Up Short

Millbrook lost to Corinth Holders on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Millbrook got a good showing from Rivers Mackinnon, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mackinnon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Millbrook saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Mosler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mosler has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-11 otherwise. Xander Mowbray also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Millbrook has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Corinth Holders, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Millbrook nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
