Basketball Recap: Donna Takes a Loss

After flying high against Donna North last Tuesday, Donna came back down to earth. The Donna Redskins lost 63-43 to the Rivera Raiders on Friday. The Redskins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 45-41.

It was another big night for Xandria Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards for Rivera. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games she's played. Oyuki Trevino was another key player, putting up 15 points.

With the defeat, Donna broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-12. As for Rivera, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-14 record this season.

Donna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-32 loss against Pace on the 20th. Rivera has also already played their next contest, a 52-29 win against Porter on the 20th.
