Softball Game Preview: Mount Greylock Regional Mounties vs. Lee Wildcats

The Mount Greylock Regional Mounties will square off against the Lee Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mount Greylock Regional has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount Greylock Regional is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They fell 12-7 to Taconic. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 15, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Kaleigh Jaros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and nine unearned) runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, Malia Koffi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Mila Marcisz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Lee was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to Monument Mountain. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Thursday.

Lee also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brianna Lynch gave up five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Lynch.

On the hitting side, Karalynn Hopkins was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Mount Greylock Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lee, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
