Softball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Cougars vs. MAST Community Charter Panthers

Calvary Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 11-6 to the MAST Community Charter Panthers. Calvary Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as MAST Community Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Alexa Chandler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Zweitzig, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

On MAST Community Charter's side, Jordan Jennings was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Jennings was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a triple, and a run.

In other batting news, Kylie McCammitt and Jessica Leinenbach did most of the damage at the plate: McCammitt scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Leinenbach scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Lauren Sweeney was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Calvary Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for MAST Community Charter, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Bristol the next time they take the field. MAST Community Charter will host Bristol at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Calvary Christian Academy will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
