Basketball Recap: Eagle River Comes Up Short

Eagle River lost against Service back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eagle River Wolves were dealt a 62-32 loss at the hands of the Service Cougars. The Wolves' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it nine in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Eagle River lost, don't look at Gabby Palazzini. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. That was a full 59.4% of Eagle River's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Katelyn Bell also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Service's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh James led the charge by putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Aryanna Watson, who scored 16 points.

Eagle River's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Service, their record now sits at 10-7.

Eagle River has already played their next game (against Bartlett), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Service, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 87-68 defeat against Wasilla on the 13th.
