Soccer Game Preview: Deer Valley vs. Freedom

Deer Valley hasn't had much luck against Freedom recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Deer Valley Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Freedom Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Deer Valley fell victim to Pittsburg and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 874th, while the Pirates are ranked 362nd).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Freedom was forced to settle for a draw on Saturday. Neither they nor California could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Freedom's draw gives them a new season record of 1-6-3. As for Deer Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Deer Valley came up short against Freedom in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 4-2. Can Deer Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
