Softball Game Preview: Riverdale Falcons vs. Vanlue Wildcats

The Riverdale Falcons will head out to take on the Vanlue Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanlue took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverdale, who comes in off a win.

Riverdale is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Pandora-Gilboa on Monday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Vanlue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against McComb, falling 20-9.

Odessa Musgrave was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Adrienne Phillips, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Vanlue's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Riverdale, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Riverdale couldn't quite get it done against Vanlue when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
