Baseball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Perry, Waynesfield-Goshen was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ridgedale Rockets 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jace Kaufman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carson Barnes was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Braden Barnes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Waynesfield-Goshen's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Ridgedale, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waynesfield-Goshen will welcome Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgedale, they will host Mechanicsburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
