Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Woodlawn

Woodlawn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wayne City Indians with a sharp 63-41 victory. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Indians are ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jax Scarbrough, who went 5 for 10 to rack up 13 points. What's more, Scarbrough also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhyver Tibbs, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Woodlawn's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Wayne City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodlawn will challenge Trico at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Woodlawn's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for Wayne City, they will face off against Sandoval at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
