Basketball Recap: Heartland Lutheran Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palmer last Tuesday, Heartland Lutheran came back down to earth. The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets were beaten by the Archangels Catholic Defenders 49-20 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Red Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Defenders are ranked 104th).

Heartland Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Abby VanBibber, who posted six points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ema Marie Koch, who scored four points and three steals.

Heartland Lutheran moved to 7-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Archangels Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Heartland Lutheran has already played their next matchup, a 46-44 victory against Central Valley on the 25th. As for Archangels Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-31 win against Nebraska Christian on the 25th.
