Baseball Recap: Daleville's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

After flying high against Elwood last Saturday, Daleville came back down to earth. The Broncos fell just short of the Wes-Del Warriors by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The loss was the Broncos' first of the season.

Caleb Aikin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Aikin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Bryson Sigler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Daleville fell to 4-1. As for Wes-Del, their record now sits at 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daleville will host Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wes-Del, they will be playing at home against Randolph Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
