Basketball Recap: Coral Park Takes a Loss

Coral Park lost against Varela back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Coral Park Rams were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to the Varela Vipers.

Coral Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layla Heaven, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabel Diconzo, who almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, nine boards, and 11 steals.

Coral Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Varela, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Coral Park has already played their next game, a 31-21 victory against Coral Reef on the 13th. As for Varela, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-43 win against Mourning on the 13th.
