Basketball Recap: Tessa Duke and Destiny Harrison Secure Win for Taylorsville

Taylorsville entered their tilt with Cyprus on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Cyprus Pirates by a score of 55-45. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 42-40 back in January.

Leading Taylorsville to victory were Destiny Harrison and Tessa Duke. Harrison posted 16 points and three steals, while Duke went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Duke now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Ruby Corona also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Despite the loss, Cyprus still got an impressive performance from Adri Pau'u, who earned 16 points and six boards. Those 16 points gave Pau'u a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Calee Sharp, who scored six points and five steals.

Taylorsville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Cyprus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Looking ahead, Taylorsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylorsville is facing Granger at the right time seeing as Granger is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Cyprus, they will venture away from home to face off against Kearns at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
