Baseball Recap: El Dorado Finds Home Field Redemption Against Rosemont

There's no place like home for El Dorado, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Rosemont Wolverines on Thursday as El Dorado made off with a 22-3 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

JJ Allen made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Clay Garrett was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Hayden Ozenne was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosemont only posted an OBP of .500.

El Dorado is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Rosemont's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Coming up, El Dorado is taking a road trip to challenge Argonaut at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. El Dorado's pitchers better be ready for this one: Argonaut has averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Rosemont, they will venture away from home to take on Johnson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Johnson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.14 runs per game on average), something Rosemont will no doubt try to take advantage of.
