Baseball Game Preview: Millbrook Wildcats vs. Garner Trojans

The Millbrook Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Garner Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Millbrook's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Enloe as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Brayden Enzor looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Davis Jones and Xander Mowbray did most of the damage at the plate: Jones got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Mowbray went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Millbrook is undefeated when Jones posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Welsh, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Millbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Garner might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Cleveland who claimed the real prize. The Trojans fell just short of the Rams by a score of 4-3. The Trojans have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The win got Millbrook back to even at 9-9. As for Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Millbrook beat Garner 14-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
