Basketball Game Preview: Handley Tigers vs. Anniston Bulldogs

Handley and Anniston are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Handley Tigers will face off against the Anniston Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Handley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Talladega 55-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Handley.

Meanwhile, Anniston was able to grind out a solid win over Munford on Monday, taking the game 64-57. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Lions are ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anniston has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Handley, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Handley ended up a good deal behind Anniston in their previous meeting back in January, losing 76-61. Can Handley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
