            Softball Recap: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels        
        
		
        
        
            Corner Canyon had lost 12 straight at home, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-19 to make it 13. They lost  13-0 to the Mountain Ridge Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  15-1  back in March.
As for Mountain Ridge, the  victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven  runs or more this season.
For Mountain Ridge's part,  Red Brooks made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Brooks has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and one  triple. That  triple marked the first that  she has  hit this season.
 In other batting news, Mountain Ridge got a  massive  performance out of  Kelli Christiansen, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Hanna Lino also deserves some recognition as  she  launched her first  home run of the season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corner Canyon will take on Layton at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Chargers are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on  a  four-game losing streak. As for Mountain Ridge, they will be playing at home against Bingham  at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Sentinels 2.5, the Miners 2.5) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
