Basketball Game Preview: Austin-East Roadrunners vs. Tyner Academy Rams

The Austin-East Roadrunners will head out to take on the Tyner Academy Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Austin-East has given up an average of 60.5 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Last Thursday, Austin-East came up short against Alcoa and fell 65-54. The Roadrunners haven't had much luck with the Tornadoes recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tyner Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took down the Yellowjackets 68-51. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their 16th in a row.

Tyner Academy's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Austin-East, they now have a losing record of 16-17.

Austin-East couldn't quite finish off Tyner Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 67-64. Can Austin-East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
