Baseball Recap: La Junta Comes Up Short

La Junta had taken Lamar down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. La Junta took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamar. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zayden Franklin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. La Junta is 2-1 when Franklin posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Calvin Hill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

La Junta's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lamar, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Junta will take on Pueblo Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lamar, they will face off against Rye at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Rye has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Lamar will no doubt try to take advantage of.
