Volleyball Recap: Arcadia Titans vs. Mesquite Wildcats
Arcadia lost against Mesquite back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Arcadia Titans fell just short of the Mesquite Wildcats by a score of 3-2. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 25-23 in the first set.
Arcadia took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-23, 15-10.
Riley Rooney paced Arcadia's offense, picking up 17 kills. Rooney got some help from
Emma Lindenmeyer and her 44 assists. Lindenmeyer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Arcadia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season. As for Mesquite, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-8.
Arcadia will head out to challenge Marcos de Niza at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marcos de Niza is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats at home, meaning Arcadia will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
