Basketball Recap: Sumner Academy Comes Up Short

Sumner Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers, falling 64-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sabres of the 70-36 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Sumner Academy now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Gardner-Edgerton, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8-1.

Coming up, Sumner Academy will challenge Pembroke Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sabres will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gardner-Edgerton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-52 loss against Junction City on the 22nd.
