Basketball Game Preview: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. American Canyon Wolves

Sonoma Valley hasn't had much luck against American Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sonoma Valley Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the American Canyon Wolves at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Sonoma Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 74-53 margin over Vintage. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Dragons just coasted through the last quarter.

It was another big night for Vinny Girish, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. Sonoma Valley is 6-3 when Girish posts ten or more rebounds, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grayson Sanders, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, American Canyon came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Trojans 61-38.

Sonoma Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for American Canyon, they pushed their record up to 13-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
