Preview: Greenview Bulldogs vs. DeLand-Weldon Eagles
Greenview is 10-0 against DeLand-Weldon since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Greenview Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the DeLand-Weldon Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Greenview and 30 for DeLand-Weldon.
Greenview suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Greenfield/Northwestern, falling 74-23. Greenview was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-8.
Meanwhile, DeLand-Weldon was beaten by St. Thomas More 61-16 on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for DeLand-Weldon in their matchups with St. Thomas More: they've now lost three in a row.
Greenview's loss was their 15th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for DeLand-Weldon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Greenview against DeLand-Weldon in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 59-28 victory. Does Greenview have another victory up their sleeve, or will DeLand-Weldon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
