Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is New Lexington's Fourth in Last Five Outings

New Lexington won the last time they faced Meadowbrook and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers never let the Colts get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Clay Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over nine innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because New Lexington is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paul Stenson, who went 1-for-5 with one triple.

New Lexington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Meadowbrook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

New Lexington will have a chance to go back-to-back against Meadowbrook: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
