Basketball Game Preview: Northfield Nighthawks vs. George Washington Patriots

The Northfield Nighthawks will host the George Washington Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully George Washington likes a good challenge.

Northfield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Rangeview just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to the Raiders 74-68. While losing is never fun, the Nighthawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Raiders are ranked second).

Despite their loss, Northfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Judah Michael, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. Daizhon Walker was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, George Washington's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Denver East by a score of 62-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (58), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

George Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-3.

Northfield came out on top in a nail-biter against George Washington in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 54-51. Does Northfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will George Washington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
