Softball Preview: South Point Red Raiders vs. East Gaston Warriors
The South Point Red Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the East Gaston Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Point is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
While South Point has not struggled against North Gaston recently, they managed to flip the script on Tuesday. South Point walked away with a 9-4 win over North Gaston. The victory was just what South Point needed coming off of a 15-5 defeat in their prior matchup.
Cailey Evans was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Evans was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evy McKee, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Taylyn Ledford was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
