Baseball Recap: Milpitas Find Success

Milpitas barely beat Oak Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Milpitas Trojans' way against the Oak Grove Eagles on Saturday as the Milpitas Trojans made off with a 10-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Hugo Garay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Adrian Chavez was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Cocio, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Milpitas' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Oak Grove, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Milpitas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against Westmont on the 4th. As for Oak Grove, they will host MacDonald at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
