Baseball Game Preview: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. Roma Gladiators

For the second straight game, Rio Grande City will face off against Roma. The Rattlers will be playing at home against the Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Grande City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Roma's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Rio Grande City got the win against Roma by a conclusive 12-1. The Rattlers have beaten the Gladiators the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Gladiators has come to flipping the script.

Dante Flores was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Rio Grande City is undefeated when Flores posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise. Valentin Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Rio Grande City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roma only posted an OBP of .357.

Rio Grande City pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
