Baseball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 14-0 to the North Dorchester Eagles. If the Jaguars were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for North Dorchester, their record is now 5-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

For North Dorchester's part, Lane Abey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Abey a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of North Dorchester's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Blake Wheatley looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).

Back at the plate, Nate Fraccaroli was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for North Dorchester: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Manny Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will host Parkside at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Dorchester, they will be playing at home against Kent Island at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
