Baseball Game Preview: Rowlett Eagles vs. Wylie Pirates

For the second straight game, Rowlett will face off against Wylie. Rowlett will host Wylie at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rowlett is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Rowlett took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Wylie, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Rowlett skirted past Wylie 3-1.

Rowlett got a great performance from Tyler Holmes as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits Holmes has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Naphtali Orozco was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Rowlett's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wylie, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.
