The Gar-Field Red Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Hylton Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gar-Field has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Hylton will come in with three straight wins.
Gar-Field came up short against Charles J. Colgan on Thursday, falling 13-1.
Meanwhile, Hylton got themselves on the board against Potomac Senior on Tuesday, but Potomac Senior never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 15 runs or more this season.
Alanis Layne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandra Newton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Aaliyah Dreyfuss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Hylton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive games.
Hylton's record now sits at 8-11. As for Gar-Field, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Gar-Field has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Hylton struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gar-Field might still be hurting after the 25-1 defeat they got from Hylton in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Red Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
