Softball Recap: Freedom Eagles vs. Osbourn Park Yellowjackets

After flying high against Osbourn last Tuesday, Freedom came back down to earth. The Freedom Eagles wound up on the wrong side of a rough 9-3 walloping at the hands of the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets on Friday. Freedom has not had much luck with Osbourn Park recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

For Osbourn Park's part, Samantha Borrayo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Borrayo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Jocelyn Ellis and Amari Frederick did most of the damage at the plate: Ellis went 3-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double, while Frederick went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Mozingo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Osbourn Park, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Freedom will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Patriot at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
