Baseball Recap: Secaucus Victorious

While Secaucus's win against Bergen Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots skirted past Bergen Charter 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with Bergen Charter: they've now won eight in a row.

Connor Miicallovich made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Miicallovich was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Goose Vazquez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

Back at the plate, Brody Berkes was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he got this season. Lucas Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Secaucus' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5.

Coming up, Secaucus will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bergen Charter, they will venture away from home to take on Saddle Brook at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
