Softball Game Preview: Ayala Bulldogs vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

The Ayala Bulldogs will face off against the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Ayala is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Ayala is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Poly just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Bears, falling 7-1. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ayala got a good showing from Ashlyn Hames, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Hames has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Upland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Braves as they made off with a 10-2 win.

Upland's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Ayala, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
