Recap: Camden County Bruins vs. Northeastern Eagles
The Camden County Bruins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 61-45 to Northeastern. While losing is never fun, Camden County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Northeastern is ranked 164th).
Camden County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xzavior Wiggins, who scored 12 points along with two steals. J'ron Pendleton was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Tyell Saunders, who scored 27 points along with seven steals for Northeastern. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saunders has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Alexander, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Camden County's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Northeastern, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Camden County will head out on the road to square off against Hertford County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Camden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Northeastern, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. South Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 272 points over their last four matches.
